ALBUM: DPHANTOMB "SOLACE"
Within the last five years, the music industry has experienced the synthesis of a myriad of sub-genres rooted in rap, rock, metal and punk rise to the forefront of both the indie and mainstream sectors of the industry.
Artists like Juicewrld, Lil Peep & Suicide Boys have successfully combined their affinity for fringe and eclectic genres with the culture & art form of rap music to create completely new and refreshing sonic profiles.
With the ever-evolving sound scape of popular urban music vastly changing minute by minute, it’s always good to keep a few new wave artists in the back pocket to keep with the times.
Thus, we present to you LA-based artist DPHANTOMB who just dropped his debut rap/metalcore project Solace. Equipped with features from Cash Money’s Caskey & “U Guessed It” rapper OG Maco, Solace clocks in at 35 minutes over eleven tracks coalescing these genres with ease.
The album opens up with the high energy, rock-leaning, Brian Spencer produced track “Guilty” which boasts multi-layered, textured vocals over a driving force guitar rift that establishes a gritty sort of punk aesthetic to the project.
With tracks like the OG Maco assisted “Staring At The Moon” alongside hip-hop leaning records like “Reckoning” & “Trap Queen,” the project achieves incredible balance and functions incredibly well from both a full top to bottom listen or with a compartmentalized approach to absorbing the tracks.
