ALBUM: YUNG LEAN "POISON IVY"

The Swedish Picasso, Yung Lean, released project "Poison Ivy" to the public on November 2nd, further solidifying his seemingly undefinable niche in the music industry. His sound has now reached the beginning stages of maturity, emphasizing on his signature monotone voice, and driving rhythmic arrangements by a truly gifted production team. "Poison Ivy" was produced entirely by Lean's longtime parter White Armor, an absolute legend.

From his previous album "Stranger" through "Poison Ivy," it's evident Yung Lean has gone through a season of change, but has found new demons in his success. The standout track, Happy Feet, sets the tone for the project, where Lean discusses schizophrenic tendencies, drug and alcohol abuse, and wasting money. My personal favorite is "Silicon Wings," which is also probably the most uplifting track in comparison, reminding me of the feeling I had the first time I heard "Red Bottom Sky".

Yung Lean has a habit for dropping one project per year, so as a fan I would love to see more songs, but I'm satisfied with the nine tracks on versatile "Poison Ivy".

Listen to "Poison Ivy" below, and watch for more after the DROP.
