EP: MAAJEI VU "BLKTINTS"
If you love surprises as much as we do then you'll love Milwaukee based Producer/Vocalist Maajei Vu's new two-track BLKTINTS EP. Arriving just ahead of his highly anticipated upcoming album You Go, Boy, BLKTINTS is a smooth and vibrant appetizer that is surely satisfying enough to hold us over until we get the full-length release, expected in late May.
Equipped with production handled by Maajei Vu himself, BLKTINTS features two tracks that pack an immense musical punch and further complicate the creative mystique behind his refreshing and unconventional approach to R&B. The lead track, "4WHEELDRIVE" is an impressive melodic venture that couples confident cadences with simplified lyrical composition and repetition that offers a moody and cascading soundscape. On the flipside, the follow-up track "SAFESEXMAMI" is a fast-paced hodgepoded of influences ranging from Funk to Dance, to Soul and beyond.
Both tracks clock in at just under two minutes, a detail that Maajei Vu says is critical to take notice of with regards to his upcoming You Go, Boy project, expected May 26th. In fact, we got a chance to get a quote from him about the project and he says that "BLKTINTS is the demo/trial version of You, Go Boy. So if they like those short songs then they will love the full project."
