DJ E. SUDD: STILL SERVING NEW MUSIC

Just under a month ago DJ E. Sudd, official DJ for 2 Chainz, released his six track EP Still Servin featuring a myriad of notable and upcoming artists from Atlanta including Bankroll Fresh, Skooly and more. The team at DROPSMEDIA got a chance to catch up with Sudd 3x on the set of a video shoot and chopped it up about his lates releases, upcoming projects, and of course, 2 Chainz and his upcoming Rap Or Go To The League album. Peep the full run down of our conversation below, along with a couple exclusive gems courtesy of DJ E. Sudd and the Street Execs.

You just dropped the Still Servin EP featuring artists like Bankroll Fresh, Skooly, Tokoyo Jetz and more. Tell us a little bit about the process of creating this project? What inspired it?

DJ ESUDD: Basically, I got my hands on so much music, and I've been apart of so many songs that have come out it's like, okay instead of sitting on these songs and instead of having them on a hard drive and on the phone, let's put them out for the people, you know what I'm saying? I need to build that ESUDD catalog — It's just different, it's a different time, a different era, and there are different ways to break music now. So you know, I'm just trying to get my strings up — And it's like, I got this good music that I actually produced, so basically its just showing my A&R skills, showing what I'm doing when I'm not behind the turntables, you know what I'm saying, showcasing My role in the studio

And I actually produced one of the songs on there (Still Servin EP) number three "Diamond Accessories" with Skooly & Kidd, so that's actually a joint me & CeeO produced together. So yeah man, it's just something to build my catalog. Still Servin, six songs, six bangers, and you know I'm interested to hear what you all rockin' with — I told you about the Bankroll song, that's a song we knocked out the same day we did "All We Do Is Trap" — Chophouze on the track and yeah, they did what they did — We probably cooked that up in 25 minutes man, that's one of them real organic bangers man!

That track ("Diamond Accessories") is actually one of our favorites. We also really liked "Literally" with Dinero Farrar & Sequence, Da Baby. What was it like working with those guys and making those records?

DJ ESUDD: Dinero Farar is crazy, him and Baby Jesus and that's my dawg Sequence on the hook — He produced that one too. Good Gas! But nah, man Dinero going crazy — I was in Charlotte and that hook, that beat was something I had been sitting on but I was like, 'Yo, the vibe is just right,' and I called Baby, he answered, called Dinero, he answered — They both pulled up to the studio and did what they did, and it's one of the favorites off the project matter of fact.

You also recently released the Peace, Love, No Stress EP, which we also vibe with heavy. One thing in particular that stands out about it is how mellow and refined it is. What was it like working on this one why was it so short?

DJ ESUDD: Peace, Love, No Stress — Long enough for you to smoke you a joint or a blunt to real quick. It was just another thing, I was sitting on some songs and  I just said, "It's time to drop something." You know — Peace, Love, No Stress  is a saying but No Stress is a clothing, a brand and a saying I've always had, and Peace & Love was just something on my mind — Like even with the SUDD 3x's, its just me doing something different bruh. It's really no rules in this game right now, so its like, "Alright, let's do something different, let's keep it real short, real sweet." You know, it's the same type vibe, same laidback feeling, smiley face on there for the smokers, you got Luke Nasty & Fresh — Short Dawg on there for the money makers and the players and then you got Cap 1 and Billy Blue talking that real hustler talk. We got videos for all the tracks on there, the "Paper" video coming real soon and, yeah Peace, Love, No Stress — I think I'm going to put out a part two for that  — Probably 'More Peace, More Love, No Stress' something like that, we'll figure it out. We dropping though, I'm on it right now, I'm on it — And the tracklist, I just feel like its not even — Instead of going for the big, big names folks expect me to collab with, its like, I hear and I'm a fan of this. A lot of music I put out its like, I'm really a fan of this, I'm really a fan of this artist — So it's like, okay this is my way of really letting the world know what's going on, it might not be somebody you familiar with. So, some folks you familiar with on the project, some joints on the project its like, "Alright, this is really exclusive." This is really something you never heard before, or from an artist you never heard before — And after this its like, "Let me do my research, let me figure out more about Da Baby, let me figure out more about Smiley."

On top of working with one of the biggest artists on the planet (2 Chainz) you work with a lot of up and coming acts that are really dope, too. How do you pick and choose who to tap in with and recruit to work with?

DJ ESUDD: Other than this being my job, this is something that I love to do. Connecting the dots is just one thing that I am great at. So, its like — A lot of the guys I'm working with are in-house, I not even say in-house, but they close to the network, so its like, "Let me put these joints out." And right now where I'm going is, I'm going to start standing outside the boundaries even more — So instead of being just straight Trap shit, might come with something smooth, might even come with something like that's a festival feel like a Dance project, you know what I mean? So right now, we exploring and we shooting the shots right now man — Putting out that good music!

Speaking of good music, 2 Chainz last album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music definitely falls under that category of good music and did crazy numbers last year. What was it like to see the success of that album? What can we expect from his upcoming project Rap Or Go To The League?

DJ ESUDD: Everything is timing bruh — 2 Chainz always delivering, like the whole team, even behind the man, everybody is always delivering. So its like, from the pink traphouse, it was like a snowball effect — A big ass pink snowball effect, from the house, to the music, to everything. And Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, you know, obviously it's still going good, you see bruh new charm, like — He still celebrating Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. And that's one of the things about bruh and the music he puts out — Its like, that's one of them projects it just gets better even over time, you know what I'm saying? Like, you mess around and get a whole new favorite song off of that thang. So yeah, Rap Or Go To The League, I'd say be prepared for an even bigger situation, even bigger marketing idea, you saw the "Proud" video, right? Shout out to the team man, "Proud" went crazy.

Yes we definitely saw that, and love it! What was the actual timeline for the release of the They Don't Care Who Makes It EP? How quickly did you guys crank that music out?

DJ ESUDD:  What's the best way to answer this — 2 Chainz records like, we in the studio everyday. Even going through the new project, like it's so much music we going through. His thing is more so narrowing it down to giving you straight bangers or telling a story, depending on which way he wants to put the project out — So its not really a shortage or how fast can we put together songs, its like, he got joints ready — He got joints he might not even drop from years back and its like, okay the time is right, this where it's going out at, you know what I mean. Like, if something is going on in the world, or the way he feeling right now, or anything — that's the sound he needs to fill the void.

Of course 2 Chainz and the entire Street Execs camp has a lot going on, but you have been working overtime putting together events and platforms like the Bring Your Own Beats event. Talk to us a little bit about that and how you got it off the ground.

DJ ESUDD: Bring Your Own Beats producer platform is a producer jam session — We don't run it as a beat battle, there's no judges, there's no competition. This is for the hitmakers, the platinum producers or the diamond in the rough that have never left they home studio before, or never heard it off their computer speakers — Like, now you get the chance to come and plug up and hear your shit on a great sound system in the club. But, I think what really motivated Bring Your Own Beats  was me going out here to these festivals and having relationships with these producers — I think I am one of the biggest fans of producers, that's one of the main things I love in music is the production. Whether its the actual cook up, or just listening to producers. So its like, what better event to do than this — Plus I mess with so many artists its like, alright shit, this is a goldmine for artists as well. Out of all of the events I do, I'd say my team, even 2 Chainz and some of the artists I rock with, they make sure they here — Even without me asking or inviting, they know what's going on. Everybody looking for producers man, and its probably more producers out here than there is artists, man. So this is my way of just providing that platform and I could see that shit being a big festival overtime.

What can we expect from DJ E. Sudd throughout the last half of 2018?

DJ ESUDD:  That One Oak residency, that done started up so expect Sudd in Vegas once a month, we gone start that in May. No Stress gear, No Stress fest thats's on the way, we gone do that in North Carolina — Yeah you can definitely do the research on that one, that's like, that's our day. You notice, all cultures, all genres, no stress, you know what I mean. More music, Skooly on the way, Kidd on the way, of course Rap Or Go To The League on the way and shit, more music on the way.
